Express Entry is an online system that we the Government of Canada uses to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers in three main economic class immigration programs:
• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Eligible applicants are required to create their Express Entry Profile on the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship (IRCC) website. They are required to indicate their language test results, education credential assessment and other details to confirm the meet the minimum requirements. If you’re eligible, you’ll be accepted into the pool of candidates and ranked using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Your score is based on the factors such as age, educational qualifications, work experience, language skills, adaptability and bonus points such as having a sibling residing in Canada or an approved job offer from a Canadian employer.
Applicants with highest scores in the pool are invited to apply for permanent residence by way of regular Express Entry Draws Step that usually happen every two weeks. If you are invited to apply, you’ll have 60 to 90 days to submit your application for permanent residence.
The processing time is usually 6 months or less for application that are submitted with all supporting documents.
